Calcium and Phosphorous these two effectively work together in the body to maintain the total growth and structure of the overall skeletal system. Deficiencies or excesses of both can create skeletal problems specially in the young puppies. Too much calcium can get result in increased bone density, which may then lead to hip dysplasia in young and old dogs. Too little calcium can actually cause bone demineralization that makes the dogs more vulnerable to the skeletal fractures and stunted growth. Phosphorus excess can lead also to renal damage.
